The Power of Walking on Mental and Physical Health

When the temperatures are nice, I always enjoy going for long walks. There are lots of benefits to walking.

  1. The hippocampus– gets bigger as a result of exercise; reverses the aging of the brain. It slows done cognitive decline.

2. Heart function- increases pulse rate and improves the heart to get stronger

3. Lung capacity- the lungs get stronger and significant improvement in endurance

4. Muscle strength- strengthen legs and improve core strength

5. Sleep quality is improved when walking regularly

6. Changes to personality- more agreeable and social by walking regularly.

7. Ability to generate ideas is improved and you become an effective problem-solver.

The lesson learned is not to underestimate the power of walking. You always feel better after going for a walk.
